Since Gaudi's death other architects have worked on the
basilica - using somewhat different styles
Inside, the stained glass windows produce dramatic effects...
...while the pulpit's canopy is yet another spectacular feature
of the building
Gaudi, of course, produced many other architectural masterpieces
including Parc Güell...
...and its dragon...
...Palau Güell and the (20) unique chimneys on its roof...
...and, La Pedrera
A visit to Montserrat, outside of the city, includes the
Benedictine monastery...
and its Black Madonna...
...then a hike through the spectacular rock formations...
...to the viewpoint at Saint Jeroni
Meanwhile, back in the city, what's with the line-up? Hundreds
of people are in a queue in front of a local church
They are buying roses to be blessed during The Festa de Santa Rita,
patron saint of impossible causes
Another Catalonian tradition - the Sardana
Some members of the band are excellent multi-taskers!
They attract quite a crowd each Sunday in front of the cathedral
The locals form circles and perform the traditional dance
Another Barcelona tradition, a statue on Las Ramblas - Imagine!
And, finally, for the birders, a Yellow-Legged Gull
on the waterfront, with - of all things - yellow legs!
